Project /Risk Management
We have extensive experience of design-analyse-develop-test-validate projects and are able to take an initial design brief and evolve it into a final, fully validated working solution. Together with our associate companies we can provide a turnkey solution including test validation and production prototyping to meet basic objectives:
1. Optimised structures, fit for use.
2. Reduced number of prototypes.
3. Reduced R&D timescales.
4. Lower project costs.
Analysis Services
Ultraflight specialises in the considered and effective use of FEA, CAD and CFD in the design process. We undertake many different types of engineering analyses using a variety of codes. Amongst those that we have experience with include;
NASTRAN, LS-DYNA, MARC, DYTRAN, ANSYS, VSAERO, FLUENT and ABAQUS. Pre-processing is undertaken using industry standard pre-post processors. We are able to offer extensive capability to cope with a variety of engineering problems, including:-
CAD - 3d solids, surfacing, mechanical systems with kinematic motion
Aerodynamic and structural load analysis
FE modelling for use with CFD/FEA solvers
Analysis strength, stiffness, durability, fluid flow
Advanced composite (laminated) design and analysis
Weight and parametric based design optimisation
Impact and dynamic test/event simulation
Our engineers will help to assess your needs and formulate a work plan with definite objectives. Our Gallery section illustrates some past projects.
Stressing
Hand calculations form a part of any analysis procedure and are used to cross-check FEA methodology where possible.
In the aircraft industry extensive hand calculations are still used for detail stressing, employing methods which have been refined and developed over many years are used. Ultraflight has a wide knowledge of the required methods, and uses ESDU, BRUHN, ROARK, NUI and other standard texts.
We can offer aircraft stressing using MATHCAD and other electronic formats; this greatly streamlines the sometimes repetitive stressing process.
Design Services
Conceptual design through to detailed production drawings for a wide range of metallic, composite or polymer components is undertaken in house. For larger projects (>10 seats) we operate discounted facility sharing through our associated companies. CATIA v5 and v4 and Rhino3D
capabilities cover the majority of our customers requirements.
Quality Assurance Management
Due to the necessity to provide full traceability to our customers we have developed a systematic, methodical approach to all of our services. Our inherent knowledge of the ISO, CAA, FAA and EASA requirements has meant we are able to provide a very efficient QA accreditation service.
Typically we examine your existing
procedures and working practices and then create a work plan that will enable a first-time pass against stage 1 and 2 ISO accreditation. The advantage in working this way is to massage your existing working methods and NOT to impose wholesale changes (which is typically what most QA companies offer). Furthermore, once your system is accredited, we provide support and audits to ensure that efficiency and all benefits are maintained.
